- Laundry is complicated enough. Make it easy on yourself-dont mix reds and whites, and always wash in cold water....could save you hundreds year!
-Remodel in style...consider bamboo in home rennovations. Its durable, renewable and looks great. New look, and you can not only "Keep up with the Jonses", you can have it BEFORE the Jonses!
- All those memos floating around at work, and how many do you acutually read? Reuse paper at work by copying to both sides, or better yet, send an email.
- Dont you love when you can do good with little to no effort? Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer, its not even noticable and will help conserve energy. Heck, knowing Kevin Bacon requires more degrees!
-When you arent using your TV turn it off! You dont want those little people to crawl thru the screen and run around your house when you arent looking! Safety first!
- Unless you have a poptart obsession, chances are you dont need to leave your toaster plugged in all day long. Unplug it when you arent using it, let it rest...and save yourself some money!
- Consider the diswasher a challenge...to see exactly how many dishes you can fit in-Like a game of tetris! It saves on water and energy, and you have to do dishes fewer times in a week (not to mention bragging rights for the family high score!)
-Isnt it time to take care of yourself just a bit, why not make it a win win-you AND the earth can benefit from buying fresh foods and not frozen. It takes TEN times more energy to produce frozen foods! Fresh happens naturally...try it!
-Find someone you can tolerate enough to carpool with! Hitching a ride with someone just 2 days a week will reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by 1,590 pounds a year. And who knows...you could make a friend-or somebody who you may need to bail ya outta jail some day.
-Looking for an excuse to get a new car? Upgrade to a more fuel-efficient version. You get to inhale the sweet new car smell, and do something responsbile for the earth. And double points if you upgrade AND carpool! That car could end up paying for itself...okay...maybe not THAT extreme...but you will earn an extra badge on your Go Green sash, girl scout!
